In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK to deliver a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The speech was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can make the flight we are heading to the airport".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a gulf air that leaves at 9:50 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an amazing assistant".

These messages were released on this week together with more than 20,000 documents from the records of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The disclosure by the House oversight committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets managed to establish his identity by matching the dates, occurrences, and locations referenced.

For example, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon took part in the News Xchange conference on November 14, and delivered the speech at the Oxford Union on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the request for comment.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as the president's key advisers in the lead-up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his first administration, but stepped down from the administration in 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a documentary about Epstein before his death and reportedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a live taping of his podcast earlier this year, he said: "We plan to publish the film, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - early next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the disgraced financier at times seeming to act like a aide.

A short time prior to the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are pretty good asst", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I will ensure you are taken care of."

British Affairs Mentioned in Messages

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year.

On the day of his address at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit thing this morning with Farage, Johnson and Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a allusion to Theresa May, the embattled UK prime minister at the time, he continued: "They are attempting to move on. may soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think remaining as long as you can uk. Best-- so people get the dedication of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa May survive". Bannon answered: "I don't see how BUT the guys here have little courage" and added "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".

May was eventually removed in May 2019 after surviving two votes of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for Reform UK informed the BBC: "Nigel Farage has never been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting took place.

The Congress will vote next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.

Interest in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited recently after the release of over 20,000 pages from his archives.
